Martinborough wine tours and bike hire

Guided tours from the Featherston train, guided cycle tours, and bikes and e-bikes for a self-guided day around the cellar doors.

There are two good ways to see the cellar doors without anyone having to drive: let a guide take care of everything, or hire a bike and set your own pace. The village is flat, most cellar doors are close together, and the bike hire team will even collect the wine you buy.

Bike and e-bike hire

The classic Martinborough day: flat roads, a trail map and a basket.

Bike

13 km/h

Flat roads and a wine trail map. Buy as much wine as you like, because they'll collect it for you.

  • No need to carry bottles. Green Jersey collects your wine purchases from the cellar doors and has them ready at their depot when you drop off your bikes.
  • Green Jersey Cycle Tours ↗ on Kitchener Street has a big fleet and runs shuttles too.
  • Book ahead on summer weekends.

E-bike

18 km/h

From Green Jersey. Makes the outlying wineries easy.

  • Wine collection works the same way. Buy at each cellar door and pick it all up at the depot at the end of the day.
  • Good if you want Escarpment, Big Sky or Hamden without a cab.
  • Charge lasts all day for most routes.
